Eastside’s New Principal

Posted by eastsidehs on February 20, 2008

Eric Riegert has come from Palmdale High School to replace Mr. Grady. This will be his second year as a principal; he has worked as a vice principal and an assistant principal. Riegert stated: “Everyone has been very welcoming—students and staff. They have been extremely helpful getting me situated at Eastside.” Riegert has been popping in and out of eleventh grade history and English classes to get acquainted with his “seniors” for next year. Riegert wants to help guide the juniors to graduation and to help them reach their personal goals in any way he can.

Riegert says that he is not going to change anything instituted by the teachers here; he will not change anything about the school of studies, either. There are only a few disciplinary and safety issues he wants to change. He wants to start having students wear their IDs for safety reasons. He also wants to cut back on the tardies accumulated by students. Welcome to Eastside High, Principal Riegert.

Posted by eastsidehs on December 10, 2007

Hey Eastsiders, ready to rock? Starting January 14, 2008, and continuing through the 25th, a Guitar Hero 3 competition will be held. It’s an elimination style tournament, meaning you go head-to-head with many opponents and once you lose, you’re out of the tournament. Don’t worry, there are other games available to play such as Madden 08, Need for Speed Pro Street, and GH2, but these games have no prizes to win. The first day is free, but after that, the price for entry is $3, $1 for watching *prizes may be awarded* as well as a *Special Prize for Winner of Tournament.* Go to room 221, Mr. Davis, to sign up or to get information.

On Schedule!

Posted by eastsidehs on November 28, 2007

The new school is on track and should be ready by Christmas break of 2008.  The theater and administrative buildings, however, have been delayed due to the failure of Measure W to pass earlier this month. The gym will most likely be done by August or September of 2008. The main goal is to be able to use the gym for basketball and other sporting events and/or pep rallies next year. If the school is finished by winter break of 2008, the furniture from the current classes will be moved to the new classes during that break. This would allow students and faculty to move in right after the break
