Our boys’ varsity baseball team played Palmdale’s boys on April 16, 2008, here at Eastside. The score was 8-5 Palmdale, although we lost, we played hard, and fought to the very end. This was the first game in a two-game series. The next game will be April 18, 2008 at Palmdale. Coach Mercier expects to win.

From the ‘50s to the ‘90s, Eastside High School’s ASB held a spirit week representing a certain decade for each day of the week. Each day ASB performed dance, and then fun and games ensued with the giving out of prizes such as Starbucks gift cards, candy, and sunglasses.
For ‘50s day, Mr. Perez’s ASB class brought back the days of “The Greasers” with a sock-hop. They then played a game with the students called the “The Three-legged Race,” giving out candy to the winners.

Then, for ‘60s day Mrs. Rouzer’s ASB class performed a well put together dance to “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” along with an exciting relay race testing the student’s Hop-Scotch and hoola-hooping skills, handing out Starbucks cards and sunglasses to the fastest.

On ‘70s day, Ms. Clark’s ASB class, wearing neon green vests, performed the legendary YMCA tied in with a jump rope routine. Then, taking inspiration from the crowd, the ASB class pulled in enthusiastic students from the crowd to perform the last round of the YMCA

‘80s day was the most celebrated day, put on by Mr. Davis’ ASB class; it included a fantastic performance by the students to Michael Jackson’s song, “The Way You Make Me Feel.” It also included a “Best ‘80’s Moves” dance off and a surprise performance of “Thriller.”

Lastly, ‘90s day closed out the week with the Macarena, performed by Mrs. Lee’s ASB class. Bringing back memories of the decade all the students were born in, they played songs such as “Tootsie Roll,” “If You Want to be My Lover” and “The Electric Slide.”

More fun and games…
